Community and environmental love

Dan is a recycling nazi [can we say that online?]. Ryan even coined the term ‘environmental fit’ in response to being quizzed about what he does with the drinking water that he doesn’t intend to drink.
You might even mistaken Dan for one of those people who go around collecting cans and bottles. He’s the guy riding home with a green calico bag full of cans and bottles because our building only recycles paper [humf].

Anyway, we use 100% green energy via AGL, we take our coffee grounds home for the garden, and we tip our waste water into the resident greenery.

We are members of RSPCA, Peta and subscribe to WSPA and AWL. These are Dan’s actions by and large, but the studio hears about it whether they like it or not.

Dan’s latest rant

We bought a brick!

bricks for bears image

WSPA is currently running a campaign to raise funds to build a facility for bears that are saved from the gruesome sport of bear baiting. I don’t know how these people sleep at night. Yes, they need to eat and feed their families but there are alternatives and orgs such as WSPA are helping the bear owners to learn alternative trades. I’d love to go and help, but the next best thing is to support those who are already there.

Live Exports should be banned.

live sheep exportBeing stuffed into a car boot and whisked away for home slaughter was the final insult for these three Australian sheep when they arrived in Kuwait last November. They’d already endured weeks at sea, a journey that many of their pen mates didn’t survive. The others disembarked into countries that have few or no animal welfare laws to protect them, then were killed by having their throats cut while they were fully conscious. Australia doesn’t need live exports. Australia sends Halal-certified meat to every country we send live sheep to. Sheep meat exports were worth $110 million more to the Australian economy than live sheep exports last year. Australian parliamentarians are starting to speak up against this cruel trade. A motion debated in the Federal parliament recently saw five government MPs advocating for an end to live exports. Why not ask your local MP where they stand? Take action

Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. ~George Orwell, Animal Farm
